Lately i have been having pain in my heels looks of dry skin, i have used vasoline, aquaphore various lotions, i am a shut in the dr. came out told me to get some eggcrate boots--- no place to be found, sometimes the pain in the heels are sharp, if anyone has any info please write. Thanks ---------- From: Barb To: Support-Group@GlucoMenu.com Subject: Healthy Thinking I have been reading comments from many about problems with control of blood sugar levels, which leads one to be discouraged. Diabetes is such a "hateful" disease as I call it, but try to keep upbeat and think positive. When I know I am going shopping or going to be away from home several hours, I always carry graham crackers in my purse. They help to take the weak feeling that we get when our sugar gets too low and then I know it is time for me to get something to eat. I also park as far from the store as I can, to get a little extra exercise. Another little thing that helps me is to eat a cup of soup about half an hour before your meal. That way it is easier to not over eat. Barbara ---------- From: Karen Walker To: Support-Group@GlucoMenu.com Subject: Diabetes Type II Second Opinion (Update) This is addressed to every one in this group. If your blood sugar levels are not under control please, please seek a second opinion, most specifically an Endocrinologist. I went for my recheck and was told my diabetes is aggressive and have now been placed on insulin. I inquired about Byetta and was told I am not a candidate. Perhaps some of you can benefit from that one. I have injected myself and it was totally painless. Karen M. Walker ---------- From: Colleen Baker To: Support-Group@GlucoMenu.com Subject: Glucophage side effects? (Original Posting) I had trouble with diarrhea while on Glucophage, in fact it was horendous. I finally had all I could stand and got off it. Anyone else have side effects? ----- From: Jean Pfeifer To: support-group@glucomenu.com Subject: Re: Glucophage side effects (Response) Colleen, My husband had problems with diarrhea while on Glucophage. It might be my imagination, but it seemed to be related to how many carbohydrates he ate. (It seemed to be more severe when he went off his diet and indulged in sweets.) One doctor said Glucophage was helpful if the patient needed to lose weight (my husband was not overweight). Another side effect of Glucophage in my husbands case was loss of appetite. It got to the point that food was not attractive to him at all. The doctor changed his medication (Avandamet-or a combination of Avandia and metformin), and he has not had a diarrhea problem since. His appetite still isnt the greatest, but it is much improved. Jean ---------- From: Denise Carr To: support-group@glucomenu.com Subject: No insurance My husband recently (last Thursday) was at the doctors office and his blood sugar was 550 or over. We dont have insurance either. But if you can find a doctor the prescriptions at Wal-Marts are only 4 dollars. ---------- From: Colleen Baker To: support-group@glucomenu.com Subject: Insulin resistance getting worse My insulin resistance is getting worse. I have been put on Humulin R 500 along with Lantis, & instead of Novolog. Should I concentrate on protein in my diet? My blood #s are terrible. |
